According to PM Grindeanu, defense spending of over EUR 100 million must be approved by the Romanian Parliament, adding that any announcements on equipping the the Army must be made by the Minister of Defense.

I also had a some dissatisfaction with some of the public announcements that some of the ministers make or fail to make, like in the case of the Minister of Defense (…). The things we want to do, for example, for endowment in the field of the army, I expect them to be made by those who must make them, namely the minister (…) All investments of over 100 million euros must have Parliament’s approval, “Grindeanu said at a press conference in Braila.

The Romanian PM reacted to the fact that Social Democratic Party (PSD) head Liviu Dragnea earlier criticized the announcement of the Chief of General Staff, General Nicolae Giurca, on the purchase of Patrior missiles.

According to Grindeanu, there are “very clear procedures” that need to be respected.
