Although the Pokémon Go app has been launched in Romania less than a week ago, the first business ideas have popped up online to support them, although you should take these ventures with a pinch of salt.
For instance, for avid players that also have to work and can’t take care of their Pokémon characters, there is the option of hiring someone to do it for you.
On the Romanian version of classified ads platform OLX there are people that are willing to walk your Pokémon for a fee.
“I can walk with Pokémon eggs through Sibiu – RON 7/Km,” reads one of the announcements posted on OLX by a user named John. There are similar classified ads that were online just for a while and later erased. In Cluj-Napoca, another user called Bogdan, charges RON 10 per Km for the same service.
In Bucharest, a deactivated classified ad read: “I will catch, for a fee, Pokémons in the Pokémon Go app. The price is of RON 10/KM. In short, I will walk to catch them”.
Although these classifieds might be simple jokes or a marketing stunt, we could compare the fees of these “Pokémon catchers” to the money that taxi drivers make in cities. For instance, in Bucharest the standard fee for a cab is RON 1.39/Km.
