Florin Marius Faur takes helm of APIA as general director

Florin Marius Faur (pictured) will take on the position of general director within the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA), according to Agerpres. Currently executive director of APIA Timis, he replaces Ioan Merca starting May 3.

Sergiu Iulian Jitareanu, executive director of APIA Iasi, will be appointed deputy general manager of another vacancy existing within the agency. APIA has three posts of deputy general director in the organizational chart, two being occupied by Nicolae Horumba and Paul Eduard Kmen.

Florin Marius Faur lead APIA before, between 2010 and 2012, being proposed by Achim Irimescu in December 2015 to replace Mihai Putintei. Subsequently, the Minister of Agriculture revoked the appointment order due to nonconformities.

Florin Faur is a graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat, also holding a master’s degree and Ph.D. in agronomy from the institution.

Faur lead APIA Timis since 2006 and has experience in managing European funds.

Sergiu Iulian Jitareanu graduated from the Iasi University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in 1999, after which he became a professor of the faculty.

He has been working at APIA Iasi since its establishment in 2006, holding positions such as senior adviser, head of field control, deputy executive director and, since 2011, executive director.
