A technical mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be in Bucharest on May 19 to 26, for technical talks related to the Tax Code but not exclusively, said on Tuesday Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici, according to Mediafax.

Romania has an ongoing SBA worth EUR 2 billion with the IMF, which expires in September and that the authorities treated as having preventive character, without accessing funds so far. The aim of the agreement is to protect the Romanian economy of potential shocks on the financial markets and to help reduce financing costs.

The agreement, going together with a EUR 2 billion loan from the European Union, was signed in September 2013, being the third lending program which Romania negotiated with its international partners in 2009.
