Although both in January and February, the Imobiliare.ro index recorded increases in apartment prices at national level, March is the first month of 2015 when the upward trend in prices was felt in all five cities analyzed.
According to a press release issued by imobiliare.ro on Wednesday, the Capital City lined up to the overall trend mainly due to the increase in new housing prices. Last month, the average amount asked by vendors saw a 1.3 percent increase nationwide, from EUR 924 to EUR 936 per sqm. In Romania’s largest city, the apartments became more expensive in March by 2.1 percent from EUR 1034 to EUR 1056 per sqm.
In Brasov, the city at the foot of Tampa, the Imobiliare.ro index reached in March the level of EUR 864 per square meter, marking an advance of 2.1 percent against February (when it stood at EUR 846 per square meter) and of 5.1 percent over the same period in 2014 (EUR 822 per sqm). The average price asked for housing in old buildings increased by 2 percent from EUR 835 to EUR 852 per sqm, while new apartments went up 1.8 percent from EUR 909 to EUR 925 per sqm.
In Cluj-Napoca, the city on Somes river, the average price asked by vendors increased by 3.3 percent over the past 31 days, from EUR 958 to EUR 990 per sqm, the current value being 10.6 percent higher than the one reached in March 2014 (EUR 895 per square meter).
Constanta, the seaside city, recorded in March the lowest price growth rate of the analyzed regional centers, respectively 0.8 percent (from EUR 885 to EUR 892 per sqm), standing now at a difference of 5.1 percent as compared to the same period in 2014 (EUR 849 per sqm).
In Timisoara, the Imobiliare.ro Index registered a 3.1 percent increase last month (from EUR 851 to EUR 877 per sqm) and an advance of 7.7 percent y-o-y (from EUR 814 per sqm).
