After two failed auctions this summer, Bucharest’s City Hall is trying again to buy 500 homes for employees in hospitals administered by the institution. The average budget for the acquisition of a single home is around EUR 120,000, more than double than Gabriela Firea announced in spring this year.

Bucharest City Hall has launched the call for the 500 housing acquisition procedure for employees in Bucharest hospitals, doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff. If initially it was about receiving home-service physicians and nurses, the program was changed so that the auxiliary staff would receive housing.

The estimated value of the acquisition is RON 286.5 million, including VAT, ie almost EUR 61 million with VAT. In the spring of this year, Gabriela Firea announced a budget of 15 million euros for the acquisition of 300 homes in a first phase. Thus, if the average budget for a dwelling initially was 50,000 euros, the average acquisition value is now 120,000 euros, with VAT.

City Hall wants to buy:

  • 200 studios
  • 200 two-room apartments
  • 100 three-room apartments
  • parking places for housing units

Developers who want to sell City Hall apartments can bid for a larger number of units, but not less than 10, according to the awarding documentation. The deadline for receipt of tenders is October 24, 2018.

The first and most important criterion refers to the price, which must not exceed the estimated value of RON 6.496/sqm with VAT (EUR 1.400/sqm with VAT), and for the parking spaces the prices must not exceed the estimated value of RON 30.000 with VAT ( EUR 6,400 with VAT).
