The National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Societies in Romania (UNSAR) has a new general manager in the person of Alexandru Ciuncan. He will take the position starting September 10.

Adrian MARIN, president of UNSAR, said: “I want to take this opportunity to thank Sorana MANTHO for the work done so far. I wish him much success in his personal projects in the future “.

“Alexandru’s arrival on this position marks a new stage in the evolution of the Union and creates favorable premises for the development of the Romanian industry,” the UNSAR president stated, “from an institutional point of view, UNSAR is now a stable and stronger organization, with projects to the benefit of our market and our clients in the spirit of European legislation”.

“I join UNSAR with the conviction and confidence that this industry has an important role to play in the economic and social development of Romania, contributing to increasing the welfare of its citizens. I am glad to be able to value this new position with the experience I have gained in the European institutions,” said Alexandru Ciuncan.

With an experience of 17 years in the insurance industry in Romania and in Central and Eastern Europe, Alexandru Ciuncan comes after 5 years as a member of the two advisory groups of EIOPA – the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, as an expert in consumer protection and market conduct. He also has a solid background in financial journalism, communication and business development.

A graduate of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, he is the holder of a Professional Certificate in Management (OPEN University Business School, UK) and is also licensed PMP-Project Management Professional and ACP-Agile Certified Professional Diploma (Project Management Institute).
