European Commissioner for Digital Single Market and the European Commission’s Vice President Andrus Ansip, spoke on his visit to Bucharest of the need to find ways to tax services such as Uber.
“The European Commission does not want to kill innovation and innovative platforms. You cannot forbit a service, instead one must come up with ways to tax them. In fact, I believe this is where the problem lies. One must find ways so that taxes for services such as Uber can be collected. I believe solutions can be found.
Again, I say it is important that taxes be paid easily. I repeat, in my opinion, forbidding something is not a solution, but rather to find ways to collect the taxes from that activity,” Ansip said. earlier this week, cab drivers protested in Bucharest against ride sharing service Uber in front of the Government building in Victoriei Square.
